Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! It’s a lighthearted holiday and a great time to make crafts with your kids. Creating these ever-so-cute crafts are not only fun, but also a great time to talk to your kids about love, gratitude, and showing love for those they care about.
Paper Bag Craft: For this craft, a paper bag is used (keep it simple!). Take a paper bag and fold the bag lengthwise. Then draw several half-heart shapes on the fold. Cut them out, paint or color them, and allow them to dry. Once dried, have your kids write the names of people they love or things they are thankful for. Voila! Simple, cute, heartfelt, and cost-effective!
Popsicle Stick Frames: For this cute craft you will need:
White, purple, and red acrylic paint
Start by cutting out squares ½ inch bigger than the square of your popsicle sticks. Pour paint onto a paper plate and have the kids put their hands in the paint to make a handprint on the paper. Let this dry. Once dry, glue the popsicle sticks around the edges of the square paper, let dry. Then glue the pipe cleaner to the back of the frame to be used to hanging. You can also glue magnets to the back if you wish! NOW – let the kids decorate the popsicle stick frame however they’d like with sparkles, foam shapes, or mini jewels.
Suncatchers: For this cool craft, you are going to need:
Old gallon milk jugs
Plastic jewels (these self stick – making it a little less messy…)
Ribbon or string for hanging
Note – smaller kids may need some help with the first part of this craft! First, cut out the usable, flat sides of the milk jug. Draw your heart on the plastic and cut it out. Using the hold puncher, punch a hole in the top, middle of the heart (to be used later to string your ribbon/string). Then, coat one side of the heart with glue and let the littles place as many plastic jewels as they can fit onto the heart! Let this dry. Once dry, use the punched hole to string your hanger – that’s it! A beautiful way to watch your room get lit with color!
These are just a few of my favorite Valentine’s day crafts for varying skill levels and ages. They are also a really inexpensive way to make a big impact. What are some of your favorite Valentine’s Day crafts you like to do with your kids, grandkids, and all littles?
